The soul in us hungers
It thirsts and it aches
Soul is the tender force
Within our hearts
Causing them to break
Apart with such longing
For two souls to meet
A place to be united
In waking and sleep
Our spirit is fire
To the water of soul
It shines like a diamond
It never gets old
This spirit in us asks
“Please allow me to fly”
Spirit longs to have wings
It’s home is the sky
While soul is six feet under
Buried in dread
