Lately I see
The places I chose
Unconsciously
Were not really a healthy place to be
There was a part of me perhaps
Too frightened to embrace
The risk of freedom
Almost as if the fear of fully living
And throwing off the weight of unconscious death
Stole all of the air from my lungs
Almost as if the beating of the hooves of a thousand wild horses
Summoned up birthing fears
But how can we begin to live again
As a truer self
If we will not take the risk to die
For is not every death
Nothing but a change of form
And Christ Jesus said it well
When he declared
You cannot put new wine
Into old skins
