Breath of freedom

Here you stand with open arms

and a heart willing to love

Here I am in my world

feeling the breath of freedom blow

with old memories through the windows of my mind

now cleansed of fog

There is a dancing in my heart

that wants to start

an energy that wants to carry me like the wind

onto joy and ephemeral things

And then there is your love

that for these past 3 years

has been my most precious

connector

Maybe it will be a long time

before you and I can meet

The forces of the world so far

have conspired to keep us

so very far apart

But surely love can cope with this

For true love knows no separation

when the loved one lives so deeply held

within the corners of our heart

In our dreams our souls draw close

dreaming each other in the spaces that carry our souls

below the waves of consciousness

Perhaps there never was a time

we did not love each other

But perhaps it is only lately that we are

discovering

what that truly means

And so

if today my heart tore almost entirely apart

at the seams

with love for you

Let the winds of freedom blow on through

because even as I ache to hold your hand

sadly for now

the recognition grows

that you and I must

stand alone.
