You may feel Fragile, but you’re still Capable

I love this.. our vulnerability actually shows how strong we were to survive.

I had the pleasure of connecting with one of my wise teachers the other day. Our conversation turned to the topic of how wonderfully strong and resilient survivors of trauma are by nature. For some survivors, just getting up in the morning is an incredible feat of resilience and courage.

We also talked about how fragile survivors feel sometimes. Without missing a beat my companion said, “Just because a person is fragile does not mean they are incapable.”

Think about that statement for a moment; It’s pretty powerful!

For me, it’s powerful because there have been times that I could not figure out how I was going to take the next breath, let alone be okay in the future. But because I have been supported with the truth that even during those times when I’m the most wobbly, I was still capable, I believe I have been able to ride…

  1. That’s such an empowering truth: “Just because a person is fragile does not mean they are incapable.” And I would say that every courageous step we take makes us stronger, and more resilient. Thanks for sharing this!

    1. Thanks to Alexis Rose for writing it as she is such a survivor and has overcome so so much. I do admire her and this put into words something I was trying to say in another post (still in drafts) in a longer more clumsy way.
