to get through this : some reflections on the spiral of healing

To get through this we will have to find the path that takes us into the past but does not keep us going endlessly round and round in circles

And yet (but/and) the paradox is that the healing path is a spiral in that we do go round and round and round and over and over and over the same issues and past experiences but hopefully with each turn of the spiral integrating more into our body by releasing it, while coming (at the same time) to understand the deeper meaning or implications of it. The critical thing with the spiral though is that it can go up and down just as the trauma spiral can spin either clockwise or counter closewise.

So some of the time on our healing journey we lose perspective and seem to be sucked back under into a trauma vortex or black hole where the feelings or negative punishing thoughts go round and round. At such times all is dark, we are besieged by the force of death and can see no light. At such times we may feel like we are drowning, suffocating or strangling in our ‘stuff’ or the ‘stuff of others’ we are conduits for. Really we are in a process of burning through which alters our very cells as we release emotions or vibrational charges festering that need to be liberated freeing up new energy..

At other times our spiral twists and turns may take us up to a new elevation where we see things from a perspective more removed and feel freer from the hold of past negativities or the paralysing ‘death’ force. The problem with most logical and linear rational based thinking systems is that they can’t really fully encompass the depth of the healing, consciousness raising or evolution process much of which does not operate in this way. In that archaic system, either you are going forwards or backwards, up or down, things are either black or white, never both, or shades of grey, part black with some spots of white dotted or bleeding through the black or vice versa.

Healing then involves embracing paradox while allowing ourselves to spin or swing or cycle through the polarities and opposites to come to a more dynamuc balance ir oscillation. As healer Tian Dayton reminds us a bi polar response of intense emotion in critical stages of healing may actually be not pathological at all but part of a healing process we are undergoing collectively. And so called “ascension” may require of a multitude of “descents”. Healing and embracing our pain to move to wholeness and raise consciousness involves moving out of polarised thinking and opposites to see the evolution too of consciousness working out for us as an entire species emerging as we are from the dark ages. We stand at a critical time where such darkness is being cast into sharp relief by the pain that a desire for light, healing, love and freedom brings. We learn that we have a choice in how to make a relationship with that pain in order not to remain as stuck.

"The religious naturalist is provisioned with tales of natural emergence that are, to my mind, far more magical than traditional miracles. Emergence is inherent in everything that is alive, allowing our yearning for supernatural miracles to be subsumed by our joy in the countless miracles that surround us." Ursula Goodenough How to describe oneself? People are a mystery and there is so much more to us than just our particular experiences or occupations. I could write down a list of attributes and they still might not paint a complete picture pf Deborah Louise and in any case it would not be the full truth of me. I would say that my purpose here on Wordpress is to express some of my random experiences, thoughts and feelings, to share about my particular journey and explore some subjects dear to my heart, such as emotional recovery, healing and astrology while posting up some of the prose/poems which are an outgrowth of my labours with life, love and relationships. If anything I write touches you I would be so pleased to hear for the purpose of reaching out and expressung ourselves is hopefully to connect with each other and find where our souls meet.
