Feet heavy with clay
We stand in this quagmire
Of tears
A thousand fears
Circling around us
Like eagles seeking prey
Gazing out to a sunlit horizon
Growing dark
As we wonder if
We will ever find the way home
To each other
Over here I feel the gunfire
Resonating in my cells
Bombs exploding
Young girls dying
The fight for the feminine to find its freedom and voice
And here I will no longer strangle
What I truely feel and need deep inside
And although it may be impossible
To live these dreams we imagine
In the darkest and loneliness of hours
When all is still
At the very least the beauty of our twin souls
Was revealed in the longing
And the dreams and hopes that we held close like a promise
As we finally lay our weary heads
Down to sleep
