Here under this table

Between us

As we share a meal of pasta and tart

Are the littered wreckage bones

Of our dead ancestors

Life that died after being hollowed out

By struggle, wanting and desire

Now alone you and I contemplate the future

Do I try to make things easier on me

Knowing it wont really be easy emotionally at all

It never was

It was lonely

But just maybe after I have found the courage

To travel down so deep into alone

There will be ways and means and moments

To connect

Inheritance you are material

You can buy many material things

But the real inheritance we carry

Is of the soul

Is immaterial

Buried down

Littered bones of wreckage

Floating deep deep down

In  a cold blue sea

This isn’t where I hope it ends though
