The heart is a diamond
That has known the furnace of fire
And the consolidation of ice
Ice and fire
These two
Are the states
In which the diamond is formed
Over ice flows I travelled
After the fire burned out
Wilderness places of freezing
Where it was colder
Due to the memory
Of how love once burned
So brightly and warmly there
But if the fire went out
Was it truly love
Or just desire
Desire can fade
It does
When the projection is pulled away
But love is a constant flame
It is what is left
After the fire burns all to ash
And the ice melts
Leaving a pool of tears
It is the tempered substance
That endures with both states
And finds within those experiences
The deep mystery
Which gives birth to itself
Love’s absence
Leads us to burn or freeze
Until we are transformed
From players in an illusion
Of wanting and ego
Love is what we find
When the burning and freezing is done
When our desire becomes
Less than
The longing to really love everything
Free and clear and pure in our diamond heart
